Welcome to the next instalment of our meet the Blueface, A Comcast Business Company, team segment. This week we met Mary Murray, and for those of you that don’t know Mary, well sit back and enjoy. Joining Blueface remotely over a year ago now, Mary is an absolute powerhouse who ensures the business delivers a first-class service for our customers.
Tell Us How It All Began For Mary Murray?
After completing my Business Degree in Waterford IT, I headed for the dizzy lights of Dublin City. I only intended to spend a year or so in Dublin, but that quickly turned into 20 plus years!
I always worked in the Operations side of businesses. Over the years, I have dipped my toe in varying industries, from customer support, online services, and the Financial Services industry. I am genuinely passionate about Operations. Sometimes I think about trying a different department, but the road always leads me back to Operations.
Why Work at Blueface?
I’ve worked in both startups and established organisations, so my decision to join Blueface was based on two things. When I joined last year, Blueface was transitioning from an SME into the corporate world after the Comcast acquisition in January 2021, so I was confident I had the skills to help shape the future of Blueface. I also knew a few Blueface faces and had heard so many positives.
Since joining, I’ve got to experience those positives first-hand. The Ops team in Blueface are second to none. I am so lucky to have such a bunch of energetic, diverse and hard-working people who provide the best in class customer support across multiple regions.
Something We Didn’t Know About Mary Murray?
I come from a big family with many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. So, anyone who knows me knows this is where I get my resilience and social nature from. Learning how to get along from a young age has helped me develop the relationships I have across all the departments of Blueface.
There is no such thing as a small gathering in the Murray household, so I am looking forward to when all restrictions are lifted and we can all get together.
If You Could Switch Jobs with Someone in Blueface, Who Would You Go For?
With my previous experience working in Financial Services, I think I would like to take a walk in our CFO, Sean O’Riordan’s shoes. Sean and I collaborate on many initiatives as it is, but maybe someday we could switch roles for a day or two if he lets me!
What’s your Favourite Blueface Memory?
I’m very proud of my team and my own journey in Blueface. I was onboarded remotely, and it was such a seamless process. To top that, the Operations team has doubled in size over the last year, all remotely too. Any hiccups have been effectively managed with all our learnings used for the next round of new starters.
Growing a team and creating a culture all remotely has its challenges, but we have really pulled together as a business and remained top of our game.
