Welcome to the next instalment of our meet the Blueface, A Comcast Business Company, team segment. This week we met Pritish Krishna Panda, an integral part of Blueface’s innovative and creative culture. After 4-years with Blueface, Pritish shares his insights, Star Wars theme tune memories and why he loves what he does!
Tell Us How It All Began For Pritish?
My professional career started with an Irish telecommunications company. I worked there while I finished up a Post Graduate in Information Systems focusing on user-centred design.
I joined Blueface in 2017 as a User Experience Designer and have never looked back. Joining an innovative Communications Platform was the perfect opportunity for me to progress my career. Over the years, I have put my skills and experience to great use across the business.
Why Work at Blueface?
Freedom and creativity! It sounds like a funny reason, but since day one, Blueface has always provided me with the freedom to try new innovations and ideas and more importantly, learn from them. Some ideas worked better than others, but the learning I got from each has made me the professional I am today.
One of my favourite quotes from Linus Pauling rings very true to the Blueface culture and entrepreneurial spirit, “If you want to have good ideas, you must have many ideas. Most of them will be wrong, and what you have to learn is which ones to throw away.”
Something We Didn’t Know About Pritish Krishna Panda?
In my spare time, I use to create and sell customised gifts, primarily t-shirts. This was a unique experience as a designer and a salesperson as you have to understand the needs of the sender and receiver of the gift. I love talking to people and learning what they want.
If You Could Switch Jobs with Someone in Blueface, Who Would You Go For?
It would have to be Nick McCarthy from Human Resources. I am in awe of what he has accomplished over the last 12-months or so. Not only has he worked on recruiting nearly 100 new starters, but it’s all been done remotely through COVID.
He has brought in some truly awesome new team members, too, so hats off to Nick!
What’s your Favourite Blueface Memory?
This is a tough one as there have been many highlights and fun times over the past few years. When our team was smaller, we had a ritual that we would all partake in before the latest features and changes went live on the platform. Our Team Lead would play The Star Wars Theme tune to get us all ready!
Additionally, because we had a smaller team, we were all tasked with testing everything on the platform, ensuring the highest quality. So, irrespective of our role, we all turned into test engineers, and I loved this whole process, from Star Wars music to releasing a new feature I had previously tested.
Advice for anyone considering working at Blueface?
Do it! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to work with amazing people in an incredible field, with a market-leading communication and collaboration platform; things are very exciting here.
