Welcome to the next instalment of our 5 Mins With segment. This month we sat down with Senior Wholesale Manager, Kevin McGrath, one of the longest-tenured staff members at Blueface.
His positive outlook and high-energy approach to his work has seen one of our largest whitelabel partners grow year in, year out. He’s also known for his laser-sharp haircut awareness and will 99% of the time be the first person to compliment you!
Tell Us How It All Began For Kevin?
I worked in many different industries before joining the Blueface family. Beginning as a Sales Executive with an Irish construction company, all while dabbling in some rescue and instructor work in the very different field of powerboating.
I started off with Blueface in 2015 as a Business Executive and joined a small team of 2 (including myself). From there, I really began to discover my passion for working with enterprise clients and delivering on key tenders for the business.
As the business continued to grow, I began working in our Wholesale team, helping existing customers increase and acquire new business.
Today I continue to work with some of our key wholesale customers, ensuring their goals are met, revenue is exceeded, all backed by our award-winning solution.
Why Work at Blueface, A Comcast Business Company?
It’s pretty simple, the people.
Through my many years in Blueface, we have gone through a lot. Expansions, mergers, acquisitions and everything in between! Throughout these massive years of growth, our culture has prevailed. I am so proud of the team for keeping our spirit and culture alive. Blueface is a state-of-the-art platform, but it’s our people that set us apart.
Something We Didn’t Know About Kevin?
I’ve a keen eye for noticing haircuts (the people of Blueface will get this one!)…
Joking aside, people know I sail, but I was into powerboats before I got into cruiser racing. For about 10 years, I provided rescue for the events I would later race in, world events, and train people to get their powerboat license.
And for those of you that know, it was also good to be out on the rib when the Stena Explore HSS arrived in Dun Laoghaire!
If You Could Switch Jobs with Someone in Blueface, Who Would it be?
Blueface has some of the most talented people I have ever worked with, and everyone adds incredible value to their roles.
I feel like I have a great insight into many roles across the team as we continuously share knowledge and collaborate on new ideas. So, instead of switching jobs, I would like to fill in a new role where there’s a gap, and all key players continue to push the boundaries in their own positions.
What’s your Proudest Blueface Moment?
That is tough because there are so many, from progressing through the ranks, winning big deals, meeting and learning from critical people, helping colleagues grow, social events and all the lifelong friends made along the way. It really is difficult to choose one.
If I had to pick one, it would have to be my first day because none of the above would’ve happened otherwise. I took the plunge to move to Blueface from a family business in the construction industry.
Upon arriving, I received such a warm welcome from everyone (there weren’t too many of us back then). I took my seat at my desk, and within the first half an hour, my phone rang, and I closed my first corporate deal in Blueface. That’s when I knew I had made the right choice. The rest is history and ahead is yet to be written.
