The Blueface team didn’t have far to travel last weekend for the sixth and penultimate Blueface Business Elevator heat on Saturday, the 30th of June.
The event was held in Carphone Warehouse, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin. The innovative competition attracted a large and diverse number of contestants with business ideas in sectors such as technology, advertising & marketing, dentistry, building and fashion. Indeed, the standard of entries was so high that, for the first time, there were two winners of a Blueface Business Elevator heat.
The joint winners were Oral Eye, the world’s first online dental checkup service which was presented by founder Mark Moore; and MotionFox, a range of clothes that bridge the gap between safetywear and sportswear with a selection of fun, functional designs, which was presented by CEO Rob Quigley. Both entries will now join the already impressive group of finalists in the final on the 14th July in Carphone Warehouse, Grafton Street, Dublin. The last heat of the competition will take place in Carrick-On-Shannon next weekend.
There were several entries on the day who were commended for their innovation and creativity including Anthony Brabazon’s company ‘Help My House’, Graham Carrick’s ‘GroupyFit’, Gary Plowman’s ‘Enter My ID’ and Bavani Naidu’s ‘Our Boxx’.
The judges were also impressed with a strong marketing and advertising based contingent including Abhinav Chugh’s ‘Video Crisp’, Tomasz Sychta’s ‘Glarom’ and Nick Dimer’s ‘Adfaces’.
Speaking after the event, judge Alan Foy commented that the group of entrants for this event was particularly strong and there are a number of companies that Blueface will seek to stay in touch with as they grow and develop.
The guest judge on the day was David Gorman, founding partner at Gorman Quigley Penrose and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Alan Foy, CEO, Blueface and Nigel Heneghan, Managing Director, Heneghan PR are resident judges for the entire competition.
